ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Shanise. I became a wife in 2012, a mom in 2015 with the birth of my oldest son, and a mom of three in 2019 with the birth of my boy/girl twins. During each pregnancy I can recall - vividly - the amount of comments I received about how important it would be to “sleep now” because I wouldn’t sleep when the baby came, or how many times I was told that my inability to sleep (due to being uncomfortable) in those last few weeks (well - months with the twins), was just preparation for the sleepless nights to come.

Sleepless nights never seemed appealing to me. Ever. I didn’t want to believe that being a parent meant I would “never sleep again” - and if I’m being honest, that sounded miserable. I knew even then how much I needed (and rather enjoyed) sleep and I knew it would be that much more important as a parent - with kids to take care of. So, before my first son was born I did all the research… grabbed all the books, asked for advice from veteran moms, etc. I felt ready for the challenge of tackling sleep training; however, when my oldest was born I quickly realized that putting everything I learned into practice was going to be a test of my commitment to the process.

There were many times when I was so consumed by new parent guilt that I “quit” almost every time he cried. Finally - with a little trial and error I got it right - and subsequently got a taste of how amazing it was to parent having had a full night of sleep vs. night after night of interrupted sleep.

When my twins came around, I knew how important it would be for me to have a plan, and to see that plan through, if I wanted any semblance of a “normal” life - and wanted to be in optimal - errr… condition - to tackle each day. So, I embarked on my sleep training journey again even sooner, and with the same success (despite making some adjustments since we were sleep training two at the same time). I realized sleep is truly a gift for parents and I became passionate about helping people along their journey to better, more consistent sleep. I was so passionate that I put all my tried-and-true tips in an eBook, before deciding to get certified as a Pediatric Sleep Consultant. I look forward to supporting you and your family on your journey to restorative sleep, and helping your child gain the lifelong skill of independent sleep!
